SME & Entrepreneurship Magazine Cover Story ![]() This issue,SME Magazine talks to woman CEOs from across Asia, and hear first hand their journey and challenges in leading Asian businesses. ![]() Every company faces new challenges every day, and we are no exception. Each project that I handle faces a different obstacle from the other. With our e-magazine, DaigdigPinoy.com , finances is our greatest challenge. Though, having an e-magazine doesn’t cost as much, but in our case, we do not focus on merely contributions or press releases for the magazine’s articles. We travel across the country, do interviews, authenticate and personally meet the people, experience first-hand all the activities, events and places that will be featured in the magazine. Apart from the financial side, we are still trying to be recognized, establish a connection and gain constant communication with the local organizations (such as the tourism sector, schools, etc.) for coverage coordination and information. At first it was a struggle. It was hard working on a project that started out as an idea. Don’t get me wrong, all great works that we see today such as the light bulb, or the airplane, all started out and was based on a simple idea, a dream. But we have to bear in mind that taking an idea, or a concept, and making it to reality is quite a difficult task to take. You have in mind what you want to do, but doing it requires more than just that. ![]() The very first day DaigdigPinoy.com went online I received a lot of feedback from critics. Most are good remarks but the ones that hit the hardest are the criticisms and the discouragements. People can be really mean at times, but, come to think of it, these remarks are the juice that kept us to our feet. Every comment, and disappointment we encountered became a challenge; a challenge to improve ourselves, our performance, the site and the magazine. These comments only prove one thing, “People are reading our magazine and they are taking notes!” Growing up, I always wanted to be a stewardess, but as I grow older, I gained weight, so being a stewardess was out of the question. I took up music back in college instead, and I loved it. Because of this I was able to work in a music school, a recording company and was able to teach in a Montessori school for several years. I choose to take this career because it was a challenge. It made me think. This is not the usual desk job with specific tasks to perform in a daily basis. Each day is a challenge. Everyday is a learning process. This opportunity made me discover who I am and what I can do. And I can say, this career brought out the best and worst in me, and that I can say is priceless. I feel privileged to be given this opportunity to creating something and be able to make a difference in people’s lives. Be passionate in what you do. You have to learn to love what you do no matter how silly it might be. If not, you better start looking for another job. Never stop learning. You should not stop with the books that you read or your MBA! Attend seminars and conventions as much as you can. You can always learn a thing or two from them. Step out of the box. Be creative and do research. Don’t be afraid to do something different. If you fail, try better the next time. Learn to work with others and trust them. Trust your people that they can do the job, or else why did you hire them in the first place? Everything is attainable once you put your heart and soul into it. Obstacles and challenges will always get in the way, but it will all depend on how you will react to it. At the moment, we have seen DaigdigPinoy.com is growing stronger and bigger each day. We are not in a hurry, taking one day at a time. Distribution of Daigdig Pinoy magazine will turn from quarterly to monthly. Hopefully, with the help and support of advertisers, we could continue to distribute the magazines for FREE worldwide. WorldSourceDirect.com is now based in Singapore. Hoping to reach a bigger audience across Asia and the world, making our site every entrepreneur’s assistant to global sourcing. |
